Attorney John Floyd

PictureJohn Floyd
John D. Floyd graduated from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science in 1984 and then obtained his law degree in 1987. John was admitted to practice law in Alabama on September 27, 1987. He is admitted to the practice of law in all courts of the State of Alabama, The United States District Court for the Northern and Middle district of Alabama and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and is currently admitted pro hac vice to the Georgia State Bar Association.

Upon returning to Gadsden and joining Floyd Law Firm, John served as a deputy district attorney on a part-time basis for approximately 2 years in the 16th Judicial Circuit, encompassing all of Etowah County. This enabled him to develop extensive experience in court jury trials and familiarity with the criminal trial process from both sides. Upon leaving the District Attorney office, John returned to his true passion - criminal defense cases which comprise approximately 70% of his current practice.

John belongs to the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, the National Criminal Defense Lawyers association and numerous specialized practice areas. His areas of practice are Criminal Law from DUI or traffic offenses to the most serious felony offenses, divorce, domestic and juvenile work involving children, delinquency and dependency cases, probate court, estate matters and planning, civil practice, personal injury, and contract and property disputes. John also acts as a court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem for children. He has defended more than five Capital murder cases to jury verdict and has a thriving trial practice in both the Civil and Criminal Jury courts.
