
Jack Floyd graduated from The University of Alabama and entered law school in 1950. During law school, he was called into military service and upon completion, he returned to law school and graduated in June of 1953. Jack was admitted to the practice of law in Alabama on June 3, 1953 and returned to Gadsden to serve as associate with E. G. Pilcher. It was from Colonel Pilcher that Jack learned to be the true gentleman country lawyer.
Jack Floyd is admitted to the practice of law in all courts of the State of Alabama, The United States District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern districts of Alabama, the 5th and 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States, where he has participated in oral arguments. He is currently admitted pro hac vice to the Georgia State Bar Association. Jack has extensive trial experience in all areas of the law.
Jack belongs to the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, the National Criminal Defense Lawyers association and numerous other specialized practice areas. He was honored with “The Pillar of the Bar” Award for Etowah County in 2011. He served as a part-time special deputy district attorney for more than 20 years.
Jack has been an essential fixture in the legal community of Alabama for more than 63 years. Jack served as Alabama State Senator from 1990-1994. He is a former Governor of Civitan International and former president of the Gadsden City Board of Education. He is also active in the First United Methodist Church in Gadsden where he served as former chairman of its board of stewards. Jack views the practice of law as an eternal service to his community.
